#10:What editing issues have you discovered in your paper and what fixes have you made? (Discuss a repeated issue you’ve found.)

I There are some issues I talked a bout a lot more than others. I added more information to other parts to make it more even.

What revision technique did you try? What did you learn?

I really liked the technique where we cut up our essays, this gave me ideas on how to organize my essay. It also made me realize some paragraphs were extremely long compared to others.

What did you do to actually Write your draft? How was it similar or different to other drafts you have written?WHat went well and didnt’ go well? What questions do you have for your peer review group?

With this draft, we made an outline before we wrote it. I usually made an outline in the past, but with this class I desided to stop because I thought I should be past that stage. Then I noticed that I started to become disorganized, and it took forever to write my essays. This one went a lot more smoothly (even though it is much longer. I will continue to always make an outline. Questions I would have for my peer review group would be: Is prohibition a good thing to link to my subject? Are there any questions  you have about my topic I could explain a bit more? Is my paper organized in a way that is understandable? Does my work cited look correct? There were some areas that did not list certain information.

It is possible people may give more information than I have about my views I am unaware of. I tried to find all of the issues I could, but I think the one issue is how it effects peoples health. As I explained in my essay, it helps people who destroy their body with prescription medications, but is bad for the repertory system. I personally believe it is everyone’s person choice if it is a positive or negative for them.

People generally think that people who smoke marijuana are hippies, druggies, lazy and are mostly out for only a good time. It is interesting to learn how it makes life better for some people with medical issues, and that it actually helps stop drug addictions from opiates. I also learned how much of an issue is has on driving, because no one knows how to test someone for an OWI. I think they need to figure out a way to test people more accurately, and it should be legalized to better the economy, health, and safety.

Blog #5 What are three different points of view?

My first common point of view on my topic about legalizing marijuana is that marijuana should be legalized for recreational and medical used. The people on this side of the argument believe that it is better than alcohol and some dangerous prescription drugs. They also believe it has helped with money in Colorado and Washington, so it might be able to build our economy back up.

Another common point of view is that marijuana should be legalized for only medical use.  These people usually believe that marijuana is better than other prescription drugs. However, they also believe people should not be able to use it for recreational use, because it can cause people to be lazy, and can be abused.

The third point of view is that Marijuana should not be legal at all. It is likely that these people take driving under the influence of marijuana seriously. It is hard to determine weather or not a person is too high to drive, because THC stays in the human body much longer than the high. There have been a lot of studies where they are trying to decide a limit, and how to measure the THC level for drivers.

The four new sources I found have two purposes. Legalizing marijuana is controversy that is happening now. Two of the sources I found are trying to persuade the way people think their way. The other two, including my scholarly source have the purpose to inform people about marijuana so they are able to form their own opinion. One of my sources do not talk about the other side, only why marijuana should be legalized. The other mentions the possible productive view points of it becoming legal, then explains why they are wrong. I am taking notes of facts and opinions that interest me in an organized binder with the articles in each section. I am also creating my work cited page as I find the articles.

Blog #3 Find Three Websites, and describe their credibility.

Ganjanomics: bringing Humboldt’s shadow economy into the light

This website I found from google has “.org” in the address, so that means it is an organization, and anyone could have made it; however, it is the website for a published magazine called “High Country News” which has articles about what is going on out west. I started reading the first article, and it is very straight to the point. It does not seem biased, because it tells how the situation is from both points of view. The article is about how marijuana is dramatically helping the economy, but does promote people using it illegally out of state. I would use this website for facts, and also maybe quote some of the people the author quoted on their points of view.

This website I found from google is also formed by an organization called the DPA (Drug Policy Alliance). The website is created by members to strongly believe in legalization. Unlike the other website, this website strongly promotes the legalization of marijuana. I would use this websites for quotations of people who believe we should legalize marijuana.

My third website I found from google is a .com website, which does not show any credibility; however, it is the “New York Times” which is a very well known credible source. The article I found was about how it is hard to tell if people are driving stoned. I will use this in my essay for facts and quotations about how weed may make the roads more dangerous.

Blog #2 Reflection On sources

I found my sources on the UWMC Library Database. I narrowed my search down to only scholarly sources.

In the first essay I read was called “Legalizing Marijuana: Money Over minds by Ike Brannon. In his article I learned that the majority of the population in the US already wants to legalize Marijuana. The people who would need convincing would be the two staffers for  he Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. Brannon says “they will be tasked with estimating the amount of revenue that legalization would generate for the government. the bigger that number, the more likely it is that the federal government with legalize marijuana.

In my second essay “Driving under the influence of cannabis: a 10-year study of age and gender differences in the concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol in blood” by Alan Jones, Antia holmgen, and Fredrick C Kugalberg, I learned that the tetrahydrocannabinol it in marijuana is what makes it a psychoactive drug (what makes you feel different). I also learned that people are very conserned about driving under the influence because THC stays in your system longer than the brain’s “high” so it is hard to measure the amount of THC a person can have while being safe while driving. This article give an experiment to prove how much marijuana is bad while driving.

In the article “No Harm Done?” written by Melinda Wenner Moyer, she said a Doctor claimed there has been a lot more people breaking the law in other states because it is legal in Washington and Colorado.

In in artile “Alcohol and Marijuana use While Drivingmy Mohammed Umer Mir, Imran Khan, Bilal Ahmen, and Junaid Abdul Razzak, they did and experiment on drivers in Pakistani.

Some new questions are: Are there any possible ways to measure being too high to drive? And are there any negative body effects?

Blog #1Topic Proposal: To legalize Marijuana

To Legalize Marijuana

There are many people who believe legalizing Marijuana would benefit society. They believe there are health benefits, it is better for you than alcohol, it is less dangerous than alcohol, and there is no reason for it to be illegal. One the other hand, other people believe it makes you lazy, and it is bad because it is hard to tell if a person is able to drive. I want to find out the impact has legalizing marijuana has on Washington and Colorado have so far, and how would legalizing it influence the rest of the United States?”

This topic area is meaningful to me because my grandfather died from the bad effects of Chemo, and having his esophagus removed when I was 12. He was not able to eat anything without getting the dry heaves, and was skinnier than ever. Life became hard for him, and he was not able to do any of the activities he used to love, and became extremely depressed. It is possible that if my grandfather was able to smoke weed during his illness, he would have lived a lot longer, and maybe would still be here today.

I will keep an open mind, in writing my article by using articles about driving under the influence of THC, and how it is bad for your brain. I also want to learn more about how it may lead to apathy and laziness. There are many points of view of the subject. Some people think Marijuana is bad, and only stoners want it to be legal, so they are coming up with health reasons. Others believe smoking Marijuana for recreational use is bad, but are more open minded about the health benefits and would consider it for the use of prescription only. I believe it should be available for recreational use and medical use.

I want to first find a broad understanding using encyclopedias, and the general internet. Then I want to find scholarly sources using the library’s data base. I want to find at least one article for each point of view.

I would want my instructor and classmates to help me stay organized and on track with my main thesis so I don’t seem wish washy throughout my essay.
